Whilst 2025 has seen glorious weather, newly planted trees and hedging have struggled if they have been in areas which have missed the showers.
Despite the exceptionally dry conditions, (there is little evidence that cell-grown trees have survived any better than bare-rooted plants) hedging plants and trees in nurseries – which all have irrigation – have grown well and UK seed supply has been generally excellent. We are delighted therefore to hold most of our prices including all the 2m + and standards at 2024/25 levels for this coming season and have brought down the cost of over a dozen species which are in plentiful supply. All prices for the 2025/26 season have been updated on the website. If you prefer a printed catalogue, please let us know.
Hawthorn is more widely available than last winter so we will be restoring the percentage of Hawthorn in native hedging back to 60%. The main shortages look as though they will be in a few of the tree species this winter, namely Whitebeam and Walnut as well as Wild Service Trees.
Stewardship and Woodland creation grants have opened up again after some hiatus last year when they were halted and hopefully new tree and hedge planting projects can now be dealt with swiftly.
As well as the usual range of shelters and spiral guards we are delighted to be offering this season at a competitive rate a new solid round shelter made from at least 50% re-cycled Ocean-bound and consumer waste plastic – samples on request.
Support stakes will be priced as last year and the cost of bamboo canes have been reduced across the board.
Please call or email us if we can help with any advice or quotations for planting schemes or any species or sizes of trees not listed.
With very best wishes for the season
Richard & Katie
