What Is Mixed Native Hedging?
Our mixed native hedging includes a diverse selection of native plant species to create a natural countryside hedge. Instead of using a single species, planting a variety of native hedging plants will provide visual and wildlife benefits. These hedgerows include a balanced blend of shrubs that are indigenous to the local area or region.
A mixed native hedge will typically include Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Hazel, Field Maple, Spindle, Dogwood and Dog Rose amongst other species.
Most newly planted hedgerows will require rabbit and hare protection. Please follow the link below for our range of regular and biodegradable spiral guards and bamboo canes.

What are the benefits of Mixed Native Hedging?
The main purpose of mixed native hedging is to promote biodiversity and create a habitat that supports local wildlife. These hedges offer food, shelter, and nesting sites for a wide range of birds, insects, and small mammals. Additionally, mixed native hedging helps to maintain the ecological balance and contributes to the overall health of the ecosystem.
Mixed native hedges can also act as natural windbreaks, provide privacy and screening, and enhance the aesthetics of the landscape. They are commonly used in farmlands, conservation areas, gardens, and various environmental restoration projects. Due to their ecological benefits, mixed native hedges are often encouraged as a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to landscaping and land management.
